Eating out

That's a great picture, isn't it?
But don't worry, my restaurant recommendations are safe. I also dislike chicken feet or duck tongues. But I do like jelly fish and sea cucumber. Have you already tried any of them?

Those restaurants are just a few picks, there is so much more choice in HK...

Simply Life (Western, Organic)http://www.hiphongkong.com/restaurants/healthy_organic_vegetarian_restaurants.htm
This one offers organic food and bread. I love their risottos. The special ice tea of the day is always worth a try. Reasonable prices.

Fringe Club (Vegetarian, Western, Thai Buffet, also Tapas)
http://www.hkfringe.com.hk/food_beverage.html
This one is a must try. They have a light lunch every day and in the evening they serve tapas. Lots of veggies and a small variety of cheese. The exhibitions and their events attract an interesting crowd.

Lord Stanley (Indian)
https://www.americanexpress.com/hk/en/personal/Cards/rewards/10x_lord_stanleys_curry.shtml
This is our pick for Indian dinner with a view. Located on Stanley's recently finished beach promenade it offers open air seating and people watching.

Crystal Jade (Chinese, dim sum)
http://www.ifc.com.hk/english/restaurant.aspx?id=2018
This one's located in the IFC building. There are always people queueing in front of it. Good quality Hong Kong style food. Very authentic.

Cheung Chau Island (Seafood)
http://www.hkoutdoors.com/outlying-islands/cheung-chau.html
A lovely little island though I was told that Hong Kongers go there to kill themselves. The restaurants are very authentic and not so touristic like on Lamma. The sea food is great and it is very reasonable. It might look a little bit dodgy to you though.

Lamma Island (Seafood)
http://nextstophongkong.blogspot.com/2007/09/lamma-tour-with-stopover-at-rainbow.html
Lamma is a nice spot for hiking. Afterwards go for a seafood dinner at the sea promenade. I guess all the restaurants have the same quality but we always pick the Rainbow restaurant because the ferry trip back to Hong Kong island is included.

Kaya (Korean BBQ)
http://www.yp.com.hk/product/templates/geniypprofilepage.asp?prd_master_id=87669&contract_id=I303397&company_id=301055&page_id=I303397_1&website_id=1&language_id=8
Ever tried Korean BBQ? It's barbecued at your table. Good quality food and reasonable prices. But you must love garlic.

Nomads (All you can eat Mongolian buffet)
http://travel.nytimes.com/travel/guides/asia/china/hong-kong/restaurant-detail.html?vid=1194719830236
You can pick your own ingredients here. Afterwards you hand it over to the cook. Pizzas, rice and noodle dishes. All you can eat at around 170 HK$.

Sen-Ryo (Sushi)
http://eatdrinkhongkong.com/azlistings-z.html
Our most favourable sushi place. Good quality at reasonable prices.

Black Sheep (Western)
http://www.fodors.com/world/asia/china/hong-kong/review-419988.html
If you are in Shek O try this one. Mediterranean style food, good quality and a very nice ambience. It's located in a back yard with open air seating and it makes you forget that you are still in Hong Kong.

The Jade Cantonese Restaurant (Dim Sum)
http://www.geoexpat.com/resources/restaurants/cantonese/page3/
This is a very authentic local restaurant. Try the 'Dim Sum in a cage". It comes in a kind of bird cage, very lovely. Good quality food at reasonable prices.

Spuntini (Italian Food)
http://nextstophongkong.blogspot.com/2009/02/spuntini-italian-restaurant.html
Very nice Italian food and wines. Cozy atmosphere. On Starstreet in Wan Chai.

The Cheese Room (Cheese platters)
http://nextstophongkong.blogspot.com/2009/03/cheese-room.html
On Hollywood Road. Nice little restaurant with gourmet cheese platters and wine.
